9 – End-Time Deceptions – 5/26 – 6/1

This week’s lesson – End-time Deceptions

“Satan represents God’s law of love as a law of selfishness. He declares that it is impossible for us to obey its precepts. The fall of our first parents, with all the woe that has resulted, he charges upon the Creator, leading men to look upon God as the author of sin, and suffering, and death. Jesus was to unveil this deception. As one of us He was to give an example of obedience. . . . He endured every trial to which we are subject. And He exercised in His own behalf no power that is not freely offered to us.” Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 24.

“Live the life of faith day by day.”

“Live the life of faith day by day. Do not become anxious and distressed about the time of trouble, and thus have a time of trouble beforehand. Do not keep thinking, ‘I am afraid I shall not stand in the great testing day.’ You are to live for the present, for this day only. Tomorrow is not yours. Today you are to maintain the victory over self. Today you are to live a life of prayer. Today you are to fight the good fight of faith. Today you are to believe that God blesses you. And as you gain the victory over darkness and unbelief, you will meet the requirements of the Master, and will become a blessing to those around you.”  Ellen G. White, Historical Sketches of the Foreign Missions of the Seventh-day Adventists, pp. 142, 143.

8 – Worship the Creator – 5/19 – 5/25

This week’s lesson – Worship the Creator

The world is perishing for want of the gospel. There is a famine for the word of God. There are few who preach the word unmixed with human tradition. Though men have the Bible in their hands, they do not receive the blessing that God has placed in it for them. The Lord calls upon His servants to carry His message to the people. The word of everlasting life must be given to those who are perishing in their sins. Ellen G. White, Christ Object Lessons, p.228

The Bible is God’s word.  The Bible is power.  When we hold it in our hands, read it prayerfully, “eat” it as bread, and digest it mentally, it will change us from the inside, and it will make us everyday evangelists.  It will affect our lives in such a way that the lives of those around us will be made better through our influence–the influence of the Holy Spirit.

7 – Matthew 24 and 25 – 5/12 – 5/18

This week’s lesson – Matthew 24 & 25

“ ‘For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect’ ” Matthew 24:24 (NIV)

“[Jesus] told His disciples the story of the ten virgins, by their experience illustrating the experience of the church that lives just before His second coming. The two classes of watchers represent the two classes who profess to be waiting for their Lord. They are called virgins because they profess a pure faith.  By the lamps is represented the word of God. The psalmist says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Ps. 119:105. The oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit…

So with the church that lives just before Christ’s second coming. All have a knowledge of the Scriptures. All have heard the message of Christ’s near approach and confidently expect His appearing. But as in the parable, so it is now. A time of waiting intervenes, faith is tried; and when the cry is heard, “Behold, the Bridegroom comes; go out to meet Him,” many are unready. They have no oil in their vessels with their lamps. They are destitute of the Holy Spirit…Without the Spirit of God, a knowledge of His word is of no avail. The theory of truth, unaccompanied by the Holy Spirit, cannot quicken the soul or sanctify the heart. One may be familiar with the commands and promises of the Bible; but unless the Spirit of God sets the truth home, the character will not be transformed. Without the enlightenment of the Spirit, men will not be able to distinguish truth from error, and they will fall under the masterful temptations of Satan. — Ellen G. White – Christ Object Lessons, p. 406-411.

6 – The “Change” of the law – 5/5 – 5/11

This week’s lesson – The “Change” of the Law

“The law is only an arrow to point us to the character of our true Hero, Jesus. He is the only One who can give us hope. Strangely enough, there’s one part of the law, of that arrow, that this dark and twisted world wants to change. It’s the part of the arrow that points us in the right direction—the arrowhead so to speak. It’s the part of the law that separates the Ten Commandments from every other moral code out there. It is the part of the law that commands us to rest. In this busy and complicated world, the Sabbath is like a refuge for us. That little crucial piece of the arrow that the world attacks is the piece that tells you and me to rest in Jesus.” –Casey Vaughn, CQ 5/5/2018

“The warfare against God’s law will continue until the end of time. All will be called to choose between the law of God and the laws of men. There will be but two classes. Every character will be fully developed. All will show whether they have chosen the side of loyalty or that of rebellion.

“Then the end will come. God will vindicate His law and deliver His people. Satan and all who join him in rebellion will be cut off. Sin and sinners will perish, root and branch.” – Ellen G. White, From Heaven with Love, p. 510.
